Stranded wire is more flexible than solid wire and is good for projects where you need the wire to be able to bend. The strands are made of copper, and they might be tinned, which makes them look silver. The pictures to the right show untinned and tinned strands.
The wire ships on small plastic spools in lengths that depend on the gauge (see the table below for more information). One side of the spool includes a tab with a slot that can be used for hanging.
You should have a good wire stripping and cutting tool handy if you are going to get a spool of wire like this. If you want to make your own cables, you can crimp connectors to the ends, such as our male and female crimp pins for 0.1″ housings (please make sure your crimping tool and crimp pins work with the gauge of wire you select).
